Burned Steak & Crap Béarnaise Sauce

December 7th, 2024

I woke up feeling rather delicate after last night, so I napped away most of the morning to try and make the room stop spinning.

Once I felt a little better, I braved the cold and headed out to get some supplies to make a steak dinner.

The entire 🥩 meal revolves around one crucial item – the béarnaise sauce.

Without this central buttery beaut, the steaks will not be purchased, and so this was the case, as the fresh stuff in Waitrose was out of stock. ‘Luckily’ I found a substitute in the sauces aisle… I wish I hadn’t bothered, the stuff tasted like vinegary mustard 🤮

Anywho, the steaks were purchased but I completely messed them up and they ended up like old boot leather! Apparently our new hob – the induction type gets a lot hotter, a lot quicker than our old electric hob, and the meal was … not the greatest.

Lesson learned here, and my next attempt will call for just a sear and a minute or two each side.

Anywho, it wasn’t such a terrible evening – after dinner we watched A Violent Night with some hot chocolate.
