Belkin F8N143 Portable Notebook Cushdesk

April 26th, 2020

I’ve been on the hunt for a cushioned pad for my laptop for a little bit now due to working so much from my sofa (thanks covid-19) and my lap getting a tad too hot from the heat of the bloody thing. I was using a standard cushion but with it being uneven and having no support this was too annoying to keep using, so I began searching for a proper solution.

I was going to go with something from Ikea but it looked a little too bulky from the pics and I’m not a fan of the ‘bean bag’ style of cushion. Another few searches on Amazon later and I found the Belkin F8N143 Portable Notebook Cushdesk.

Thoughts about it so far

So apart from this Belkin laptop cushion looking the absolute business, what do I think about this bit of kit? Well, I have been using it for about a week now, paired with my Macbook Pro and my impressions are… it is fantasic!

  • It feels robust and well made
  • It’s pretty light, even using it for hours at a time
  • Keeps the laptop’s heat off of my lap area
  • Looks sleek as hell
  • Large surface area for bigger laptops
  • Slim profile

Materials

The surface area is made of smooth hard plastic with ergonomic bevels around the edges, underneath is firm cushioned foam encased in slightly textured fabric. There is also an anti-slide rubber strip to keep the laptop from moving about.

Any downsides?

One drawback that I would say is that if the laptop isn’t positioned on the anti-slip rubber bit, my Macbook moves a bit, but I think this just relates to Macbooks as the Macbook’s feet are not rubber, but hard plastic and will slide about on most hard surfaces.

Recommend?

If you are in the market for a quality laptop cushion that does a great job at keeping the heat away from your lap, I would go for this product.
