108 Marylebone

February 24th, 2014

108 Marylebone is an upmarket kind of restaurant, a place you might feel more comfortable, suited and booted, perhaps a venue for a working lunch. Attire aside, this place serves good quality British food. It’s not the cheapest spot to sate one’s hunger but one to definitely check out.

Tasty Bread

Unfortunately, when I visited this place, I wasn’t exactly starved for food, so I passed on the starter and just ate the (non complimentary) assortment of breads.

Truffled Mac and Cheese

For the mains, I thought I’d try something a bit different than the chicken or beef etc. I went with the Truffed Mac & Cheese, a dish I wasn’t expecting to pack a real punch of flavor but I was wrong, it was pretty god damn good. The portion of shaved truffles atop were pretty scabby though. For the side, I just got a portion of chips too.

Chips

Would I go back? Well, yes I would go back here again, as I loved the interior and the food was quite nice. One niggle I had though, was the service. On arrival, we were greeted with a warm welcome and shown to our table, but our waiter wasn’t exactly brimming with friendliness. When asked about some menu items, it was like pulling teeth to get a coherent answer. And we weren’t checked on, after beginning our food, they just left us to ourselves.

So a nice place, but their customer service needs a bit of seeing to.
